20 Cheap Flights This Summer from London Under 3 Hours Away

(Return Flights starting from £25)

“If there is one thing I’ve learned after travelling to over 30 European countries, it’s this: cheap flights from London this summer are everywhere if you know where to look.”

Europe is easily my favourite place to travel. It is so close (under 3 hours flight time), so diverse, and every destination feels completely different. One weekend you are in Italy, the next you are in Eastern Europe, and it can cost less than a night out in London.

Over the years, I have made it a rule to never pay more than £50 for a one-way flight in Europe, and most of the time, I do not even get close to that.

In this guide, I’ll show you exactly how I find the cheapest places to fly from London, and more importantly, 20 of the cheapest flight routes from London you can actually book this summer under 3 hours flight time away..

Are Cheap Flights Really That Easy to Find?

Short answer: yes.

Flights around Europe are some of the most competitive routes in the world. Budget airlines are constantly lowering prices to fill seats, which is why you’ll regularly see return flights for £25 to £60. If you are looking for cheap summer flights from London, there are often more options than people realise.

I have even managed to fly for £1 before using promo codes, so deals do exist if you are paying attention.

That said, £25 to £50 return is the realistic sweet spot for many cheap European flights from London, especially if you are flexible.

How I Personally Find Cheap Flights from London

There is no complicated strategy, just a few things I always stick to:

  • I stay flexible with dates — even shifting by a day or two can drop the price
  • I compare multiple flight comparison platforms instead of relying on one (using FlightsFinder of course:) - which handily compares all of the big search engines for me in one go - like Skyscanner, KAYAK and Google flights)
  • I check nearby departure airports when possible
  • I book when I see a genuinely good price, not when I feel like it

It sounds simple, but this is exactly how I’ve kept my flight costs consistently low and found some of the cheapest places to fly from London again and again.

How to Use FlightsFinder to get amazing deals this summer:

FlightsFinder has an easy to use search function that allows you to see the cheapest flights leaving from your destination - either on very particular dates or for the entire month in which you wish to travel.

Follow these steps to see the best deals:

Step 1.) Go to the FlightsFinder Homepage - Enter Departing from London (or your home airport) - then select - 'Flexible - Search Everywhere' - in the destination field.

Step 2.) Enter your dates of travel - so for example if you can only depart on the 31st of July and return on the 6th of August - enter that - or if you are more flexible simply select the whole month box in the flexible dates section.

FlightsFinder - Everywhere search

Step 3.) Hit search - you will then be able to see a list of the cheapest destinations leaving from your chosen airport - clicking a flight will allow you to refine your dates further if needed and then you can go on to compare those flights on multiple search engines to ensure you get the very best deal. (Note: You can also click the 'Direct flights only" checkbox to show non-stop flights only if that is what you prefer).

Always Check What Is Included

This is where a lot of people get caught out.

A flight might look like a bargain, but once you add extras, it can quickly double in price. This is especially true when comparing cheap flights from London to Europe across different booking sites.

Always check:

What to Check Why It Matters
Checked bag included? A cheap base fare can become expensive fast once luggage is added.
Cost of cabin or hold baggage Some airlines charge heavily for bags, which can wipe out the savings.
Seat selection fees Useful to check if you want to sit together or prefer a specific seat.
Airport used Some low fares use less convenient airports, adding time and transfer costs.
Booking platform Prices can vary across flight comparison sites, so it is always worth comparing.

Sometimes paying slightly more for a ticket that includes baggage works out cheaper overall.

Small Things That Make a Big Difference

These are the habits that have saved me the most money over time:

  • Be flexible by even 1–2 days
  • Avoid peak weekends where possible
  • Don’t wait too long when you see a good deal
  • Compare multiple platforms every time

It is not one big trick, it is doing the small things consistently. That is usually the difference between paying a standard fare and finding one of the cheapest places to fly from London this summer.

Final Thoughts

Cheap flights around Europe are not rare — they are everywhere.

If you stay flexible, know what a good price looks like, and act quickly when you see one, you can regularly fly for £25 to £60 return.

For me, that is what makes Europe so special. It is one of the easiest and cheapest places in the world to explore, and there are so many cheap places to fly from London if you are open-minded about dates and destinations.

Once you start spotting these deals, you will never look at flights the same way again.
